My Bat-Mitzvah Project - Supporting Girls and Women

The Torah portion I am reading at my bat mitzvah is about counting able-bodied men. But, hey!!!!! Women count too !!!! In the Bible, women didn’t have equal opportunities. Even today, women are not always treated equally to men in many situations. For my bat mitzvah project, I will be donating 10% of my bat mitzvah gift income to the below-listed organizations, all of which promote educational opportunities for girls and women, equality for women, and women assuming leadership positions.  The Malala Fund ( https://malala.org/ ) works to secure 12 years of free, safe, quality education for all girls so they can learn and lead without fear. We focus on secondary school, typically grades 7–12, when gender discrimination increasingly affects adolescent girls’ futures. Completing secondary school opens up opportunities for girls to make their own life choices, allowing them to reach their fullest potential.
